Willetton Senior high school

Willetton SHS (Physics teacher Brett Boughton and D and T teacher Paul Hogg) has developed the Eco Warrior incorporating physics and design and technology principles.  The collaboration between the two teaching areas has resulted in a very impressive final product.  Willetton is also offering the Certificate II in Engineering as a VETIS program.

Kolbe catholic college

Kolbe Catholic College (D and T teacher Wayne Spencer ) has worked to appeal to both the manually minded students as well as those interested in design and programming by piloting the PICAXE project, where students design and program model tanks.  The PICAXE system, along with other programming software including Yanka technology, is used in their Systems Engineering course.  This exposure puts their students in good steed for studying programming at university level.

comet bay college

Comet Bay College has also used the PICAXE microcontrollers to design and program robots.  These robots are modelled on explosive ordinance disposal robots

Northlake senior campus

North Lake Senior Campus focussed on System Control and Electronics in North Lake ’s Engineering courses.  North Lake has worked on a range of projects including an Air Track system and remote controlled buggies, again using the PICAXE programming system as well as Crocodile Technology

Warnbro community high school

Warnbro Community High School (D and T teacher Brett Poole ) has developed a ship lift modelled on the lift used at the AMC.  This project has been incorporated into Warnbro’s Engineering courses.  Warnbro are also completing the Cert I and II in Engineering through VETIS programs.

 Atwell colllege

Atwell College (D and T teacher Mark Robinson) has developed self automated buggies, again using the PICAXE system.  As Atwell is a very new school Mark pitched this project at year 8 students who formed a volunteer electronics group.  The results are outstanding.  Atwell received industry sponsorship from Mulford Plastics for this project.

School Apprenticeship link (SAL)Shipbuilding

Henderson Campus Challenger TAFE SAL group (Engineering lecturer Adam Fiannaca ) has built a 4.7m aluminium speed-boat.  The students have worked on the design, construction and setting up of the boat and Adam has involved other study areas such as Electrical to bring the boat to completion.

Saltwater Marine sponsored this project by supplying the outboard and some of the accessories for the boat.

The students have completed their Skippers tickets and have handled the boat on the water.
