A number of schools are participating in PEETA (Promoting Engineering Education, Training and Articulation) as part of the Defence Industry Skills Strategy
Each school committed to introducting new courses or customising current programs as well as developing high quality engineering-related resources and projects.

Kolbe Catholic College
Kolbe is developing its Material Technology course for year 8-12 students and will use aspects of the Defence Industry to get students to solve real design problems whilst using a variety of systems technologies.
In Year 8 students' design and build an "emergency car" over 12 weeks and parents are invited to a race day to view students' achievements. The project-based learning approach enables students to understand the nature of axle and bearing systems and how momentum applies to design requirements. Students gain a knowledge of basic electrical and electronic s
ystems and practise soldering skills in building circuit boards.
In Year 9 students design and manufacture an electromechanical "lolly dispenser" over 20 weeks. They construct a series circuit and gearbox using crocodile technology and determine gear ratios and speeds.
